Travel Schedule

Click here to visit our picture web site.

Case New Holland has moved their harvester works from Moline to Grand Island, Nebraska. They are manufacturing both the red Case IH and the yellow New Holland combines in the same facilities.
This gives us an opportunity to add more tour sites to a trip out to Central Nebraska.  We can add the:
                   1.   the Sandhill cranes spring migration
                   2.  the Archway Monument
                   3.  the Case New Holland Harvester works

into the same tour. Great combination of attractions.

                                                  Tour Schedule (day 1)
Pickup Departure schedule to be announced - coffee,  muffins, and orange juice will be
served on the bus as we travel to Nebraska.
11 am   Lunch is included in the Grand Island area.
12 pm  Our next stop is Crane Meadows Nature Center for a driving tour and an
educational presentation on the migration of the Sandhill Cranes. The crane is the
oldest living bird species.  It has inhabited the earth for about sixty million years,
facing and surviving every conceivable hardship. Cranes are the exotic dancers of
the bird kingdom. Their gyrations have been compared to the antics of fervent
pioneer preachers leading their congregations.  Our tour will give us a glimpse of
these majestic birds, as they make their long journey north.
3 pm  Catch the Spirit of America at The Great Platte River Road Archway Monument

The Archway marks the spot where the Oregon Trail, California Trail and Mormon
Trail all converged in the Western movement that linked America coast to coast.
The Archway is massive. It is over a football field long, three stories high and 50
feet wide. It is the only historical monument that has been granted air rights over
a federal interstate highway.  The structure houses two levels of fascinating
interactive exhibitry that traces the history of the Great Platte River Road from the
Oregon Trail days to the fiberoptic future world of tomorrow.
5 pm  Rowe Sanctuary for the evening’s viewing of the Sandhill Cranes. This is an
unbelievable sight as we view from river’s edge the Cranes settling in for the
evening. Expert staff will help provide additional information on the Cranes and
explain this part of their journey .
8 pm  Check into our hotel at Kearney - dinner is included at the hotel after we get back
             from the river.
                                                  Tour Schedule (day 2)
5 am  Depart the hotel for the Platte River and another chance to get a close look at the
Cranes.  This time the birds are leaving for the fields to feed.  There can be as
many as 30,000 of these magnificent birds in the air over our blind at one time.
8 am  Return to Kearney and to our hotel for a continental breakfast. Pack our bags and
            load  the motorcoach.
