We start this tour south of Gillette at Black Thunder Coal Mine. This mine is the largest open pit coal mine in the United States. We will get to see the enormous dragline equipment, huge trucks, and large shovels that are used in Campbell County to mine coal.
After the mine we travel a little north to visit the Durham Buffalo Ranch. While at the buffalo ranch we will tour their working operation and enjoy a delicious evening cook out.
Other stops on this tour include a visit to a Coal Powered Generating Plant and their coal mine, plus the Campbell County Rockpile Museum. The museum shows the history of Campbell County and the coal mining process used in the area.

Our schedule next includes a trip to a third mine -  RAG Coal West. Here we will see a different type (truck shovel) of coal mine operation.
After this mine tour we travel to a working Cattle Ranch. At the ranch we will experience what it is like to make a living as a rancher in Wyoming. You will learn about ranching activities and to be able to see the animals close up. While at the ranch we will be served a ranch-style dinner.
Often on this tour we stop at Devils Tower National Monument
which occupies 1,400 acres near Sundance, WY.  The tower, a huge monolith resembling a colossal stone tree stump, rises 867 feet from its base.
