Established
in 1886 Conception Seminary College is the largest of the 37 Roman
Catholic college seminaries in the nation and one of only 13 with a
complete four year academic curriculum. Conception strives today, as it
has for 120 years, to fulfill the Church's need for well-trained priests. In the best Benedictine tradition, Conception Seminary College promotes
academic excellence, character formation and spiritual growth. The
operation of Conception Seminary College is the primary apostolate of the
Benedictine monks of Conception Abbey. The Spiritual Formation Program is designed to nurture a priestly vocation
and expand each seminarian's ability to understand and respond to God's
call. The program has three components: strong liturgical experience and
formation. individual spiritual direction and an emphasis on scriptural
study and prayer.

This
Monastery of the Benedictine Sister of
Perpetual Adoration, built in 1882, was the initial center of our
Sisters in this country. Because there was a request from the
Benedictine Fathers of Conception Abbey for assistance in ministering to
the predominantly immigrant population of northwest Missouri, a small
convent and school were established in the vicinity of Clyde. This small
community continued to grow and flourish, eventually becoming a
Congregation of more than 200 members.
The work of the Sisters is an integral part of their
monastic life, earning them a living and witnessing to monastic poverty
and simplicity. The various works are done within the monastery and
include:
baking and distribution of altar breads; printing and publishing a
magazine, ''Spirit & Life''; retreat work; sewing; various art works,
and hospitality which has traditionally been a Benedictine ministry.
