Colonies - Our local tour
guide will tell us about the community, and show us the working
shops and stores that make up this area.
Shopping time - woolen mill,
furniture factory, winery, and craft shops.
Board the motorcoach and drive to
Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Dinner is included at the Clarion Hotel
this evening before the performance.
Cedar Rapids Follies - The Follies
is a Broadway-style, Ziegfield-type
musical variety show sponsored by the Cedar Rapids Symphony Guild and all profits go to support their nationally recognized Symphony.
The Follies were recognized as
one of the top 100 Events in North America in 2001
by the American Bus Association.

Continental breakfast at our hotel is
included before our day begins.
Kalona - tour of the area with a
local step-on guide - including the
Historical Village; Quilt and Textile Museum; Mennonite Museum and
Archives; and shopping at the Amish Craft & Specialty shops. The Amish
men are busy on the farms from daylight to dark. Their religion forbids
any reliance upon technology, so they do not use electricity. Fieldwork is
done with the aid of horses and horse-drawn implements.
Lunch is included at the Amish
community of Kalona.
Shopping time at the craft shops.
Board the motorcoach and start back home. We will stop along the way for
supper (on your own) at a convenient fast food restaurant.
