To
start this tour, we travel
to Moline Illinois to watch as John
Deere combines are being made at their Harvester Works. Other stops include the new John Deere Pavilion
and Restoration Center for antique tractor buffs.
We travel from the Quad
Cities to the
Cedar Rapids area for a stop at Villa Comagena. Here we enjoy a wonderful
Austrian dinner and some educational stories of European occupation during WWII with Inge Schminke.
We then travel on to tour John Deere's Tractor
works in Waterloo. Here we visit the engine work where the blocks are
finished and the final engine parts are added before shipment across town to
the tractor assemble plant.
At "Tractor Assemble" everything comes together to make the
high tech modern tractor of today's sophisticated farming culture. Lunch at
their cafeteria.
This is a
great tour for farmers of all ages. With the ag economy gaining some
strength and higher commodity prices, this might be the right time to look at this adventure.
