New Orleans
and a
Getaway to the Deep
South
|
Louisiana
-
has one of the most colorful histories of any state in the USA and of many
countries. Louisiana is a rare and exotic mix of nations and cultures. For
over 200 years this diverse mix of cultures has collided with the rest of
the world to create a sensory overload. Louisiana has kept the best from
its history and now offers a holiday experience that is so rich in its colorful
way of life that the memory will remain with you for years to come.
Alabama
- Nestled in the heart of the Deep South, Alabama sweeps down from the
heights of the Appalachian Mountains to the sun-drenched beaches of the
Gulf Coast. Here you can see the Civil War battlefields and beautiful
antebellum mansions of a long-gone era. It is an extremely diverse state
rich in history, culture and scenery. A land of cotton and antebellum
mansions, Civil War Battlefields and Civil Rights conflicts, oak trees
draped in Spanish moss and bayous brimming with crawfish; sun-drenched
beaches and the mountains of the Appalachia.
Georgia
- It’s a song... it’s the place where the world’s best-selling novel
was created... it’s the location of the film seen by more people on the
planet than any other. Atlanta is the capital of Georgia and is often the
gateway city to the Deep South region. Dynamic, bustling and surprising,
the Atlanta Metro area has attractions as diverse as the four million
people who call its many communities home. Discover antique treasures or
go mall hopping; visit world-class museums or fine art galleries; enjoy
the great outdoors or an amusement park; stroll historic sites. Enjoy true
Southern hospitality in Georgia’s Historic Heartland, just south of
Atlanta.
Mississippi
- It’s the mournful sounds of the Delta Blues. A step back into another
era. A seat at the head table. Familiar footprints in the sand. A renewed
appreciation for the great outdoors. Dance in original juke joints to the
music that still shapes the sounds of generations of artists. The brave
will walk the Crossroads…the intersection of Highways 61 and 49, where
Robert Johnson is said to have sold his soul to the devil to play the
blues like no other. Music enthusiasts traveling the Blues Highway, US
Highway 61 from Memphis to
Vicksburg, uncover a fascinating tour of the Mississippi Delta, the region
that spawned legends B.B. King, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Robert
Johnson and scores of other blues greats that paved the way for musicians
all over the world. Wander the interpretive Mississippi Blue Trail and
experience the blues where they were born and where its ambassadors worked
during the day and played after sundown.
Tennessee
-From the Mississippi River in the west, to the Cumberland Gap and the
Great Smoky Mountains in the east, Tennessee is the prime
destination to discover everything from world-class music, awe-inspiring
scenic beauty and thrilling outdoor adventures. |
