DAY 1:
We get acquainted with our traveling companions as we travel south to our
destination of Omaha, Nebraska. Arriving early this afternoon, the Hollywood
Candy Shop is a good place to start our visit. Everyone is a kid
in this store with its huge selection of favorite childhood candies. Our
next stop is the Little Ukrainian Catholic Church. As we
enjoy coffee and dessert, our host will tell us about how Christmas
is celebrated in the Ukraine. This evening, we step into the pageantry of
merry olde England for a Madrigal Christmas Feast. Spiced
Holiday Wassail, a multi-course feast and authentic mirth and song will be like
going back to the Renaissance years and an old English castle for a festive
holiday evening. Overnight - Omaha, NE (D)
DAY 2:
Our first stop this morning is Girls and Boys Town where we celebrate an Irish
Christmas at Father Flanagan’s House. Father
Flanagan’s prior home is decorated for the holidays according to the Irish
Christmas holiday traditions. The Girls and Boys Town Tour
includes the hall of history, guided driving tour and the Father Flanagan House.
Our next stop is the El Museo Latino Museum. After a
delicious included Lunch, the Mexican Folk Dancers
will perform traditional dances from various regions of Mexico. With
colorful costumes and exciting group dancing, we’ll see why this group always
receives a standing ovation. At the Durham Museum, the
holiday miniatures are a must see Christmas favorite. This collection of
over 200 custom made miniatures includes diners, toyshops, schoolhouses,
bakeries and more. The museum also has many other exhibits on Omaha
history, train history and rare coins for visitors to discover. We explore
more ethnic Christmas customs and traditions at St. John’s Greek
Orthodox Church with a Tour of their elaborate church,
an included Dinner and Dance Performance.
Overnight - Omaha, NE (B) (L) (D)
DAY 3:
We bid farewell to Omaha this morning, but our sightseeing is not over. At
Logan, Iowa we visit the Museum of Religious Arts. Their
annual Reason for the Season includes a display of over 400 Nativity sets from
all over the world as well as over 75 Santa Claus and St. Nicholas figures.
Our last stop is Valiant Vineyards Winery in
Vermillion where we have an included Lunch, Tour
and Tasting. Traveling the rest of the way home, we will
have time to visit with our traveling companions about which holiday theme,
tour, tradition and food we enjoyed most during this wonderful Christmas
experience. (B) (L)
